Hi,

The beauty of discovery lies not just in the outcome, but in the journey and the little milestones.

This week, I witnessed a simple but inspiring example of how children learn when given the right encouragement.

Week One: Drawing a Heart

I showed my daughter how to draw a heart. Carefully watching, she picked up her pencil and—on a blank sheet of paper—gave it her own try.

Hearts

The result? Wobbly lines, a slightly misshapen heart, and the sweetest, most determined smile.

When I asked her about her drawing, she said:

“That’s how I was able to do it, so that’s how I did it.”

It was perfectly imperfect—just right for her first attempt.

We looked at her hearts side by side over a few days. With practice, each new heart was a little more even, a little more confident.

She proudly pointed to one and announced, “This one is my best heart.

I smiled and asked, “Did your hearts stay the same or become better?

She beamed, “They became better.

Growth Beyond Paper 💗

Last week, she came home with a colored heart sheet from the art center, vibrant and full of life. It wasn’t just about drawing hearts anymore; it was about expressing herself, growing in confidence, and showing her creativity.

Hearts

The Lesson:

When we give children the opportunity to learn, try, and try again, we witness not only their skills improve—but their hearts blossom too! 🥰

Ask yourself:

  • How can we foster a safe space where children feel free to try and make mistakes?
  • How can we celebrate small progress, rather than just perfect results?
  • What are some “hearts” your child or student has drawn lately—moments where you noticed growth, effort, or resilience?

Let’s nurture that spark every day, so our children grow up confident not just in what they know, but in their ability to learn and flourish. (Which we cover extensively in our Brain Power Workshop)

Enjoy every moment,

Rachel Gluck
